The currency of Puerto Rico is the US Dollar, with one Dollar equalling 100 cents. Notes come in denominations of US$100, 50, 20, 10, 5 and 1. Coins are in denominations of US$1, as well as 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 cents. Money can be exchanged easily at a number of banks and bureau de changes on the island. Traveller’s cheques are accepted widely, though to avoid additional conversion charges they should be in US Dollars.ATMs are available, and major international credit and debit cards are accepted. Business: General banking hours in most areas are from 0830 to 1430 Mondays to Fridays. Shopping hours are generally from 0900 to 1900, Mondays to Wednesdays and Saturdays, and from 0900 to 2100 on Thursdays and Fridays. Both Spanish and American customs sit side by side, and formality is expected of business meetings along with a handshake greeting. Unless included on the bill already, tipping is usually from 15 to 20 percent for the usual services.
